Thursday

Well I am finally biting the bullet. Cale and I met with the surgeon acouple weeks ago to find out about fixing my wrist. It is finally going to happen, though I didn't think it would be quite so soon. When the nurse asked when we would like to schedule it I figured we couldn't get in until August or something ( I had to make my appointment just to see him 3 months ago) I was totally shocked to hear her say how about the first week in June. So this Thursday I am finally going to get it done. Its actually better this way because Cale is looking for a different job and we needed to have this done while we have our awesome insurance. We have sent out a few resumes in different places all over the place so if anyone hears of any job openings please let us know. For those who don't know back in 2005 I fell and hurt my wrist went to our clinic they took xrays said it was fine just don't use it for a few days. Ha I have never been able to use it fully with out pain since. Why didn't I go back adn have them look again you might ask because I graduated and there for lost any medical from the school and when you are poor college students with no $$$ or insurance you don't go unless its life or death. So once Cale got this job here I went to the DR. Sure enough I had actually broken it and when it healed it cut off a blood vessel to my scaphoid bone, which has slowly been killing the bone. So Thursday I get to go to Wenatchee where they are going to graft bone from my wrist and shove it into the the dead one and hold it there with wire and pins and screws. So this summer I will be in a full arm cast up to my armpit about for 2-3 months and then one to my elbow for 2-3 months then I get to wear a very lovely brace for another 9 months The Dr said I will never have full use of it again but this is for pain mostly. So there is probablly going to be a lawsuit involved with my original clinic we'll see. Who knows we'll just have to see what happens. This is the first time I will have surgery like this. To be completely honest I am terrified I keep having dreams that I wake up in the middle of it. I absolutely hate needles, when I have blood drawn the nurse has always been kind enough to use the baby needle so its not quite so bad but the thought of and IV and all that junk scares the bejeebers out of me. So I am trying not to freak myself out anymore than I already am. Beau is going to respite for a couple days thanks goodenss( we have to leave for WEnatchee at 5:30 am toomarow) wish we could have gotten it for at least the weekend but thats all they would give us. Cale and I are going to go out tonight and have some fun, as much as one can in Moses Lake, enjoy my last night of complete mibilty and indendance. Right now I am trying to get stuff done around here so to minimize what Cale has to do it didn't help that I got the flu adn strep throat at once. So now I am trying to play catch up and get stuff done. So if I don'tupdate this for awhile its because I am at home writhing in pain lol hopefully I will get some awesome pain killers :) I am sure Cale will get on here and post some very lovely pictures I will make sure he takes beofrer and after pics that way you all can see what I look like higher than a kite.lol

Oh my goodness - what an episode!

I experienced something similar... I was out of the country at the time and injured my knee. The Dr. said it was bruised and to go home and put an ice pack on it - wouldn't even schedule a follow up visit (seriously - he actually refused)! A couple months (and a lot of pain) later, I had a second injury in my ankle, went to a different dr. and found out that the first and second injuries combined were going to put my in a full leg cast for my last few months of traveling + a series of smaller casts for a few extra months. - I had an option for surgery then, but passed on it since I wan't in the US!

I'm sure your surgery will go perfectly and you will be picking up small children with your amazing new strength in no time!

Good luck! I hate surgeries too! I had my nose done for a septum thing and sheesh! 2 kiddos and surgery, not fun. At least Beau has a place to go for a few. Take care. And definately see about the responsibility of that clinic. They ruined your wrist!

Good luck my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Funny read about Beau and his being "sick".

Also I love your new header picture. We love sailing... although I think you already know that.
